No, Im back to not hearing from the people! Ive left them messages to call me but nothing!! I actually drove out to where they live hoping to spot it in their driveway and just knock on the door but so far nothing has panned out... its kind of frustrating at this point!

I just went and looked at it from the road!

After talking to the owner today he told me where it is parked, I took off a little early and went to see what it looked like. From the road it looks good!! It doesnt appear to be an SR5, no sunroof or sliding rear windows but its not all banged up or dirty and from what I could see the cab looks great with no rust! Im going to see if I can get out of work early or come in late Thursday and go buy it! I just want to look underneath and make sure the frames OK. He said it runs like a top, we shall see... Im 1 step closer to brining it home!!!

I just got off the phone with the guy, Im meeting him tomorrow at 4:30!!!! Im bringing the tag from my truck to drive it home, Im not waiting around any more with this guy, Ive been waiting for over a year to buy this thing so hopefully its not an up close pile of junk, though from the road at a 100' it looks good, like a good coat of wax and it may shine right up!!

Sweet, I hope it all works out the way he says....

Like others have mentioned: for $500, unless you're really broke or don't want the hassle, it's just plain worth it. If it looks ok from the road, and runs, you would easily get your money back ++ by parting it out if it ended up not being what you want.

Im not sure what Ill do with it, I have a 1971 VW Westie in my garage that I bought back in Oct. that Ive been tinkering with, I guess it will come down to its condition. He said the frame is solid and the body has minor rust, but I wont know till tomorrow! I figure with a clear title and if it runs as good as he says even if I dont hang on to it I can clean it up and get my money back and possibly more for beer I am worried that he may jack the price on me at the last minute or not follow through but I know where the truck is and Im going tomorrow 5 gallons of fresh fuel and jumper cables ready to drive it out of there so we shall see!! Ill probably just wash it off and get it in my garage and give it a good once over, I dont know that Ill be doing too much too it this winter, Im still working on the garage too, its not insulated and I have to finish the floor to the loft yet so without heat its just too damn cold out there for me, it was 24 here last night with 40mph wind!! I hope to have pictures up tomorrow though!!!!

Tell ya what man...if you buy it for 500 bucks and get it home and decide that it's just NOT what you had expected or wanted, I will buy it from YOU for $750.00 sight unseen. I'm about 3 hours from you and I've got a trailer to haul it home on.....just say the word! Aside from that, I hope you enjoy your new Trekker!! Shoot me a PM if you have any questions or just wanna BS about yotas.

sounds like this guy doesnt care too much about getting rid of it if you've been trying for a year. I would buy it though. my girlfriend wants a 4runner but I just love the 1st gen pickup body style and a Trekker is the best of both worlds. If I could find one around here I'd pick it up in a hurry.

Put the cash in the dudes hand, grap the keys, and Run like you stole it! that is a heck of a deal, and if you don't like it sell it to the NC fella and pcoket 250 bucks for aggrivation. you get some cash for the VW project, the Trekker gets some attention, and the NC fella gets a great New Years gift to himself.
