CA Smog for 1st gen 22r Swap
CA Smog for 1st gen 22r Swap
I'm looking at swapping an 85 and up 22r into my 1982. I think it will need to be inspected by a BAR association. Does anyone know if I need to install the smog equipment into the vehicle to match the year of the 22r Or will I be required to keep the vehicles original smog equipment and match it to the new motor?
I'm swapping to a new 22r because I can get a good deal on a used one and the original 22r in the truck had a bolt broke off in the water pump from the PO. I also want to upgrade the 22r so I can install an enginblr Street RV head

If you are changing just the engine block and head and reusing your original carb you do not need to be inspected by BAR. If you were converting over to the 22re ( Fuel injection )then you would.
