Anyone ever deleted this hose and lived to tell the story?
Working some engine refresh work on the engine stand. I have always hated this hose. It's hard to change or check, the nipple for it is toast and formed hoses aren't really sized right so I've always had to crank down bigtime on the hose clamp to get it sealed. And in the past I've run a big oil filter (5.0 FL-1A) and this hose rubs against it.
This is a 20R head & intake. Some (earlier?) 20R models have similar connection, but it's at the top of the manifold, perhaps related to the non-electric choke (?). Has anyone ever deleted it, and lived to tell the story? It seems like it just circulates coolant through the belly of the intake manifold.

I tried to bypass that and did not work. I was in the same boat as you with a mangled end like that. It might be possible but i kept overheating like the system couldnt burp the air in the coolant. Maybe someone else could chime in

I have another barb in pretty good shape pulled from a 20R manifold that had the connection on top. But the threads are much bigger, it should fit in place of the mangled barb AND the adapter bung screws into. I can't seem to remove the adapter bung. The first picture shows chew marks on it where I got on it with a pipe wrench and 3' breaker bar. I guess I need to pull the underbelly off and check how it's actually attached.

It has metric threads. Very close to 3/8" pipe threads but the barbs I have from home depot start binding up after the first turn. The plug shown in the first pic is metric, from another toyota application. I'm headed to the stealer, hopefully can still just buy the barb.
I went ahead and pulled the whole belly cover it screws into, to see how to remove the adapter bung. It appears to be pressed in.
