If it's truely an 82 it's not efi. But yes, to any of us, it's a classic if the condition is right. To tell you the truth, they're not that hard to break into, i've locked my keys in a few times and i have a handy dandy coat hanger.

here's a tip... just about any old worn yota key will work. Just find anybody with around the same year of key and try it. You just need to gently wiggle it while applying light pressure as you turn it as it's going in and it should work. A little bit of graphite on the key should help if needed. I've started over a dozen different trucks that had no keys with an old spare that I keep around. Usually works with the driver's door also since the tumblers get used way more than the passenger side. This trick won't work if the locks have been replaced, though. Don't go using this info for evil, though...

It may not even need to be a Toyota key depending on how bad the switch is, I can start my truck with just about anything that will catch on the slot, I once used a coin to start it when I didn't feel like walking back across the property to the house to get the key.

Once you get the door open, remove the door panel, and look at the inside of the doorlock tumbler that the key goes into. There is a code printed on it that if you give it to a toyota dealer, they can cut a new key for you.
Hint: on my old '82, i spent an hour trying to unlock thinking I had to jimmy up, but down was the way to get it unlocked. Coathaoger with 3/4-1" bent 90degrees, slide in along window, turn 90 degrees, and push down when you hit resistance. aim for right beside the lock, opposite from the door latch. I cna be in my truck in 5 minutes.
