1982 22r mechanical fuel pump question?? SOLVED
My after market performance engine has a weber 32/36 conversion on it. I am replacing the fuel pump and I noticed the return line is plugged/capped off. I took the cap off and put a hose on it and put it in a jar. Lots of fuel came out. When I put the new fuel pump on I am concerned about capping it again and am wondering if I should run a return line back to the tank. I am wondering if my fuel starvation when pulling long steep grades at full throttle may be related to the diaphragm not being able to flex fully due to the back pressure of having the return port capped off.
Any thoughts on this??
thanks

I went ahead and ran the return line and the fuel that was seeping by me throttle shafts after shut down is now fixed. So I guess I answered my own question. No more heat induced pressure building up after I shut her down
