Yota ... Required Tool List
Being fairly new to My Runner how about the more experienced members making up a list of tools that would be highly recommended for newer Toyota owners? You know the specialty stuff that you need for that one big nut or whatever. Thanks

Seems like I've needed a 12mm for a lot of stuff as well.

You might as well just get a set of the wrenches... I think the oil drain plug was a 14 or 15mm

If your truck is anything like my 89 you will need a sawzall, chized, and hammer. Those were my weapons of choice when replacing the rusted out front shocks on my 89

Other than the 54mm hub socket and factory service manuals I can't think of any speciality tools that you wouldn't use on other vehicles. I have bought stuff as a result of reparing stuff on my truck (seal/bearing driver, impact wrench, nice floor jack, etc.).

liek everyoe said a nice set of 8-17mm sockets and a good ratchet with a few sized extentions...and the usual stuff
for rusty old runners...a cordless sawzall owns!
btw i was working on my friends 05 corolla and before i even looked at the bolt i was like..i bet you $5 this is a 10mm socket..
go toyota for simplcity..man that car was easy to tear a part...

aren't the drain plugs for the tranny & diffs 24mm? I know I drove all over town trying to track one down (sears had it of course) I had to get bigger hex wrenches for the front diff too, 12mm? Your 2nd gen might be different than mine tho.

i don't use a 10mm for a lot of stuff on my toy at all. most seems to be 12 or 14 mm, with the odd 13, 15, 18, and 19 tossed in.
hub socket = 54mm, you can buy the cheesy sheet metal snap on one like me or go to sears and pay $22 or so for a beefy 2 1/8" one(same size)
