Just an update for you all: I haven't had the chance to use this thing.
The only 220 setup in our shop is some oldschool plugin with angled plugs.
I need to buy an adapter or re-wire it.

It is important to preheat the metal before you weld the perch on to prevent cracking as well as to make the weld "stick" but be carefull not to overheat the metal and bend the axle tube when heating or welding and it is not necassary to run a root pass of 6010 or 6011 to achive a full strength weld in this instance, some E7018 AC will do the trick. good luck with the project!
