Oriflamme Canyon - 11/29/08
Met up with a couple of friends and our Tacos for a day of running the fire roads in and around Oriflamme Canyon. Turned out to be a real nice day in a mountainous area of the Anza Borrego Desert. With the recent rains, dust was non-existent.
Some fall colors
Just your normal switchbacks down a steep slope
The day started us out on Chariot Canyon, took us through Oriflamme Canyon, then to Rodriguez Canyon. Up till Rodriguez, we just had the typical fire road experience. But on Rodriguez we found a rocky bypass that contained 4 or 5 rocky sections that allowed us to test our rigs.
The first section
Then a couple more sections... then the one that slowed us down. A poor line selection left Brian high-centered
The truck behind him couldn't get a good angle to either strap or winch him out. So I (having negotiated the section without incident) turned around and proceeded to get hung up myself.
No problems however. Working as a team, we first got my truck unstuck then extricated Brian from his situation.
But as we reached the end of the bypass, the final obstacle proved too much for even the most seasoned guy with us. Dell gave it a good go, but in the end the trail won.
Win some / lose some...

We all made it home, all with fresh new scratches and dents on our armor.
