Agua Caliente, AZ
Warning, No Pics.
I was out in the field on wednesday for work and had a little time to kill on the way back. I was in Sentinel, AZ and drove back to phoenix via the Agua Caliente Extension Rd.
The route follows the Agua Caliente Rd and turns into 571st Ave. That road crosses the Gila river (which was very full) and continues up to an intersection at the Butterfield stage Rd. Turn east, follow to 555th Ave, turn North and go up to Lahman Rd, East again and that will turn north into the Agua Caliente Extension Rd. That is where the day got interesting.
The road is dirt, but a superhighway. 45-50 without pucker. This would be a really fun high speed run, I only saw one other car on the road over 50 miles or so. I think it took me about 45 mins to run from Lahman/555th ave to Old MC 80 just north of Arlington wildlife area. I was scootin because I wanted to get back to the office and I did not have my camera with me so sorry folks no pics, but there is a certain satisfaction of running a length of road FAST for 50 miles or more.
From downtown phx to Sentinel via Gila bend (MC85) is 106 miles one way, the return trip via Agua Caliente was 119 miles.
The flowers were INCREDIBLE, any of you phoenix guys/gals who have not been out to see them this year, go now! Our wildflower season will be over soon, and with all the rain, this may be one of the best ones we have had/will have for quite some time.
This is a great sunday afternoon drive, any noob could handle with no problem. No high clearence needed.
Sorry for lack of pics, I forgot my camera and I was under an immense amount of stress because I was driving a F*%D (company truck)
