YotaTech Members Review Toyota Lockers: What’s Up in the Forums
Looking for Toyota parts recommendations? Our members can save you the time, money & headaches that come with buying the wrong stuff.
The aftermarket for Toyota truck parts is obviously vast, filled with so many different choices it’s truly difficult to figure out what best suits your needs. Thus, we find it extremely helpful to find out what everyone else is actually using. And, more importantly, whether they actually recommend those parts. And there’s no better place to find this kind of advice than the YotaTech forums, as member scottclymer found out recently while seeking input on his choice of lockers.
“I ordered a pair of built diffs from Marlin this week. Having them put 5.29s and Yukon Grizzly lockers in them. Does anyone have any useful info on these lockers?”
Unsurprisingly, several YotaTech members do in fact have some experience with these lockers. And among them, 5runner gives them rave reviews.
“I just put them in my ’94 4Runner with 4.88s and I absolutely love the lockers!!!!! The rear gearing makes it seem like you are driving a whole new truck. The lockers operate like they should and have never let me down. Around sharp turns it clicks, but not very loud. And every now and then it will unlock or lock while driving straight. But from what I gather that’s normal. Needless to say, it is awesome!”
Member muddpigg seems to be impressed with the Grizzly lockers in his Toyota, too, and not just off-road.
“Just installed a Grizzly-equipped diff yesterday. So far I really like this locker. I ran an ARB and Lock-Right in the rear. Its operation is smooth. There are a few little quirks, but they’re far less intense than Lock-Right.
After our first lake effect snow of the year, the road crews had problems keeping up with the 1-1.5” an hour. The snow on our roads had packed down to ice tracks and was plenty slick. Despite this, the Grizzly’s smoothness carried over to the snow.”
So far, we’ve seen nothing but glowing reviews on Yukon’s Grizzly locker. But we want to know what you think. So head over here and tell us what your experiences are with these lockers – good or bad!
