2022 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro

Driving impressions are under wraps, but you can take a tour of the 2022 Toyota Tundra’s technology right now.

After a rollout that seemed to take forever, we finally have all the specs on the 2022 Toyota Tundra. And while driving impressions still seem to be under embargo, at least on paper, the latest version of Toyota’s big rig seems to be a winner. Now, given that range-topping models will produce 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque, the Tundra isn’t exactly the kind of machine you’re going to pit against the Ford Raptor or Ram TRX in the dunes. But it has plenty of features that make it a compelling choice.

Along with the multi-link coil spring setup, multi-link coil spring setup, available adjustable air suspension, massive moonroof, and power rear window, the new interior is loaded with tech. Obviously, we’ve take a look at some of the new features before, but the folks from TFL have just posted a great new video which walks through some of the electronic aids which will make the 2022 Tundra the most capable full-size truck Toyota’s ever built.

According to the presenters, the example in this video is one of the few trucks which features both the hybrid drive system and the TRD Pro package. Of course, how popular that combination will be with buyers remains to be seen. But given that it provides 48 more ponies and 104 additional lb-ft of twist, I’d expect a lot of off-road fans will check the box for the hybrid when it’s decision time. That said, I do wonder if the hybrid kit will make it more difficult for folks to tune the twin-twin turbo system for more power.

Another big question I have is on pricing and fuel economy. We don’t have hard numbers on either of those things yet, and both will likely prove important when buyers are weighing their options, so as soon as we know, you will too. We’ll have a full review of the 2022 Toyota Tundra after they start hitting press fleets, but until then, watch this deep drive on the sweet new rig’s exterior features and cutting-edge tech.
