Drove Revtek's lifted FJ today!
Since Revtek buys a good amount of stuff from us(Toyota of Gladstone) they came by for the second time and I took the keys.
Let me say to those who have not seen or driven one in person yet... they are freakng sweet. Especially after you lift them and stick on some 33-34" tall tires. I was worried about visiblity issues as I've read about there being a problem with blindspots and what not. I didn't see it to be a problem, I acutally thought it was better than my '90 Toy PU.
I plan to bring in a few of Revtek's 3" lift as I know customers will want to have them.
Killer, just a killer rig. Mine won't last more than 3 days without dents and rockrash though

Dude, this thread is picless.
We need pics to salivitate over.
So, driving it was pretty sweet?
I will not be lifting mine for quite a while, plus I want to read/hear how it does with the stock gearing by going to a taller tire.
I could see putting on a 33" (32" is stock) but going over 33" will surely require new gearing?
Plus with all this new electronic gizmo crap new rigs have, is it going to mess up stuff?
I am use to old school junk like my '91, not this new computerized gadgetry out now.

Pictures, I know, I know... I totally forgot my camera. I was kicking myself about that too. Although once I got in the drivers seat I could do nothing but smile
I don't think Revtek will have images of the FJ up on their site for a little while. They just did the photo shoot yesterday morning prior to showing up at my work.
Driving a FJ-Cruiser is by far the coolest thing. It actually feels pretty small. Once behind the wheel it's really nice. The interior layout is quite nice. Everything is within reach.
I can not express how cool this thing was!! I know, pictures are needed. I'll see if they can't bring it by again.

Does your 90 have the 22RE or the 3.blow?
Did you get to "push" the go pedal a little bit to feel how the 4.0 does?
I am wondering if the 4.0 has more seat of the pants to it than the 3.4 with the charger on top of it.
I wonder if a blower will come out for the 4.0 later?
I have all these ideas going through my head
May have to spring for the ARB bumper too later on.
I know this thing does very well off road, and it can even do rock gardens.
There are quite a few vids on the www.toyota.com/fj site.

My '90 has the 3.slow but it does pretty good for a 3.0 I have 4.56's and 35's(no lift) and romp it around everywhere.

I sure did! The power felt very smooth and instant. 1st gear in the 6-speed is 4.1 so reguardless you've got instant go with that lower ratio.

That I'm not too sure about.

I have not heard anything from Toyota about a supercharger for the 4.0 yet.

I'm not sure about very well, but much better than most newer SUV's. Once I get mine I plan to take it out right away and test everything.

Okay, I have pictures as Revtek stopped by again today & left it all day for people to play with. Since I'm still at work and my work computer doesn't have a multi-card reader(but it has a few USB ports) I can't upload the images yet.
They will be posted up later tonight once I get home, probably around 8pm PST.

Here ya go...
This FJ also had the TRD cat-back exhaust. It sounds pretty good. Another option to drop change for.
One thing the boys from Revtek mentioned to me was about wheels. It took them a while to find some 16" wheels that would clear the front calipers, those ION wheels clear by about 1/8". It's not that the calipers stand up tall off of the rotors but they stick outward quite a bit. There will be a lot of talk about picking aftermarket wheels for these FJ's. The optional 16" FJ wheels look good to me and since they fit you might as well go with them if you can, I think.

Inspiring shots, thanks. The Rock Rails look like a clean install and beefy. I read on another forum that the TRD wheels retail for ~$120/ea. Does that sound about right? Can you offer a YT discount or group buy? What is the TRD P/N? They need to put a spare tire cover on to disguise the embarrassing OEM rubber. I wonder who gets that when they're done? It has a region plate on it, so it's probably going back to Toyota at some point.

Nice pics.
Saw them on Mud's forum too.

There is a link to Pirate over there, but either Boeing is blocking it, or POR is down right now.
So, in order to use this lift kit you need to go to 16" wheels?
17's will not work?
I would rather keep the same size wheel that comes from the factory.

Andy, I am out of the loop on 3rd/4th gen lifts since my rig is a '91, very easy to lift.
Since the 'Cruiser is based on the 4th gen 4Runner/Prado frame, I would imagine the suspension is the same as the 4th gen 4Runner?
That is different than the 3rd right, or do you use the same factory coils on both lifts?
What also comes into play is which is best, spacers verses coils/shock combos.
I have a lot to learn about the frame/suspension on these puppies.
Hopefully my dealer will have one in so I can at least take a test drive this weekend.
I wonder if they would mind me driving another 45 minutes past my place and stopping off up at Greenwater to "really" take 'er for a test drive
