The chip is great... I had a heck of a time choosing between a Macbook Pro and a big iMac, since the newest versions of both have the Core 2 Duo. I went with the 24" iMac, though, since the upgraded one ends up being faster for cheaper than the MBP, and I don't do much editing in the field.

The MBP is one sweet machine, though! Would love to have one in addition to a desktop editing machine.

I'm planning on getting a 17" MacBook Pro soon. Glad I procrastinated on getting one for as long as I have. Now the question is if I should wait on the Panther release?!

I wouldn't wait...I'm sure Apple will have an upgrade program.

The only thing I'd wait for is if you're in the market for a Mac Pro... rumor has it that there is an 8-core version coming out in Q1 or 07. 4 dualcores - mmmmmm.

I bought my 1.5 ghz, 12" PB (used) to hold me over until the Merom came out. But the little PB does so well, I'm not sure I'll upgrade right away. It would really be nice to get MCE's dual hard drive modification and have separate OSX and Windows drives. Especially since there is so Win software I have to use now.

Well, I officially rock! I got my MacBook Pro (17"/2.33Ghz Core 2 Duo/2Gig RAM/160Gig Hard Drive). Now I just need another $3K for the Adobe Suites package, Router, Carrying bag, Parallel Desktop program (for running Windows simultaneously), Windows, wireless mouse, and any other toy I can think of!!!
