I am in a digital media class at the University of Nevada and we will be using this program, Second Life, as a "metaverse" where we have our digital acre of land to meet for classes and such. Class work or class attendance doesnt have to take place at the University because we will be meeting at a designated location in Second Life during our class time. Its kind of an interesting concept. It also sounds like we will be opening an art gallery in this virtual world as well. As the teacher puts it we are forging into new areas of digital classrooms and learning areas where in the future your physical location will not matter as much as your virtual location and the work you are doing from anywhere in the world. Kinda interesting.
