I like HP but they can be pricey. Just stay away from Lexmark since they seem to be more problem prone than most.

we have an HP 6110 all in one. And to be honest it is nice. The scanner is great and it prints color pages real fast. Of course, cartiridges are expensive, but.....
Great printer and under $300 when I bought it almost a year ago

Guys,
I'm still looking. Any further opinions? For compactness, I'd really like another printer/scanner/copier, but if a better solution exists with a great printer and a simple standalone scanner, I'll consider it. Andreas

I finally found and purchased a new printer - the Epson Stylus Photo RX620. A bit more than I wanted to spend (~$300), but I'm happy with the overall robust construction, the easy-to use features, and the print quality. While similar in overall size to the the Stylus all-in-one that it replaces, this printer seems to have a completely different printing mechanism and uses 6 inks vs. 4.
All in all, I'm very happy with it. I printed a few 8x10 photos from my recent Colorado trip and the image quality is amazing. I'm also shooting with a new Canon 20D, so the pics better be pretty damn good! Andreas
