Help with Win32 mersting B Trojan

I need to figure out how to get rid of this thing, i've tried moving it, renamed it, i can't do anything to it, and yet my virus tracker keeps bringing up this file saying that is got this Win32 Mersting B trojan inside of it....


help?

well, so far everything i've tried has just told me that it's denied access, or tries to move it or delete it, but fails...

delete the file in safemode (won't be in use then)

Have you updated your Windows this month?
Every 2nd Tuesday of the month or so, MS releases new updates via their Windows Update feature.

Part of that update is a virus scanner than runs once after installing, and it may be one that it can scan.

i do the MS updates, I think you're right about the not scanning that file, after i run a scan, it'll always say that it scanned like 243,506 something files, and 20-30 that it couldn't scan....

how do i get to sfae mode in XP?

Reboot, then after the BIOS screen (usually the first screen you see), keep tapping F8. That'll take you to a screen that lets you boot to safe mode.
