Do they have 3G?
How do you do GPS without mobile network connectivity? Don't you need cell towers to triangulate your position?

A lot of the android tablets & phones have GPS built in so you don't need cell coverage. Plus this Pantech Element was only $250 and upgradeable to 4.0, the ice cream sandwich OS.
Almost 2 years with my iPhone, time for a change and Apple didn't have a smaller tablet (I like the portability) and fixed memory was kind of sucking. I had 10g of music, not a lot of room left. Will be getting a Droid phone in April, being able to sync the two wirelessly is a big plus to me. Last edited by dropzone; 02-20-2012 at 11:37 PM. |

here is one that I am going to try: Back Country Navigator seems to be pretty decent. Allows offline use so I am not constantly using Data. I have to figure out how to do screen caps on the Pantech and get a car mount but having the 8" screen is going to be nice ![]() As I hear about more I am sure I will end up with several GPS apps. |

Backcountry Navigator is excellent and one of the only apps I've ever paid for. I've only used it on my phone (DX2) for hiking but I imagine it would be pretty awesome on a tablet. Just download the maps your going to use on wifi before your trip. Congratulations to you sir for getting off apple products.
