I first had xm in the trial days of it when i ran cross country driving truck and would go to canada alot and for the most part i was happy with it and did the survays for them but to no avail they did not listen to my imput or 5 other guys i know were running in the test bed stages for them.I then got sirius and well i put the sirius one in my 4 runner under the stereohead unit in the catch all and love it so much i got another one and put it on my harley dresser was even thinking about finding a way to set it up on my 55 panhead with no radio.Ireally got to say with all the choises they got for music like hair nation and buzz saw not to mention howard and this year nascar sirius is the best money i have spent on my car stereo and i have around 3,000 in my stereo if i only knew that the 30 bucks i spent on that sirius 1 was gonna be that killer i would have just a stock set up and sirius only.

I've read a couple of articles about the proposed XM-Sirius merger and right now a major concern is that neither receiver supports the other. I was gonna get it for my truck but now I'm gonna hold off for awhile until they address this issue

I'm not concerned about the hardware, but I am concerned about the subscription price going up as there is no competition anymore...
I think I'm going to activate mine now and wait and see what happens. This way I should be grandfathered in on the current subscription rates if they do in fact go up.

well as their subscriptions/users increase, prices should go down. it seems that their market is hurting so badly that the only 2 companies (monopolistic competition) had to merge so they could stay alive. Now it is a monopoly, but doesnt have very much power. w0rd

Hard to say... I would tend to think that prices would go up without competition. As the consumer, you really dont have a choice in terms of a provider anymore. Then again, I'm no Alan Greenspan...

I like XM, mostly because it has more options for how you want to install it, and has more channels. I think Sirius has better rock stations, though. And that's the one thing that I do not like about XM, is that I can't just pick one station and listen to it all day, because none of the rock stations play what I want to hear.
Anyone else have to keep switching the channel to find something good on, either XM or Sirius?

Nope. HD is broadcast radio's answer to satellite radio. They brag about it, because there is no subscription fees, and it is broadcast from earth, rather than satellites.

HD radio is not available everywhere, and it does not have as many stations. The XM, and Sirius fees are nearly negligible, only about $10 a month, or about .00015 dollars per channel per day, or 33 cents per day. So not a whole lot. And if you get one you can bring in the house, and in the car, you can listen to it all the time, and really get your money's worth.
