Question What cable is the best resolution? Component or HDMI?

Like the title says, which will give you better picture quality? I have a Samsung T220HD LCD TV/Monitor and I have my XBox 360 hooked up to it and I'm using component cables. Would HDMI cables make any difference and if so is it worth getting the HDMI cable?

Thanks, James

HDMI is better - in theory

Both component and HDMI do Hi Def, but HDMI transmits a digital signal, while Component transmits an analog signal. For the analog signal, the tranmitting device, the Xbox in this case, has to convert from digital to analog to transmit over the component cable, then once the TV gets the signal, must convert from analog back to digital. I can't say for sure, but HDMI is more efficient, since there is no conversion, as it is digital all the way. Keep in mind that it will vary based on your TV. I would google your TV and see what people with real experience has to say. I can only provide the theoretical side of things. Some TVs don't have the best software for the HDMI input, so that's going to be your biggest problem. However, personally, I wouldn't spend any money on component. Best prices for HDMI I've found is sterlingtek.com. They were quick to ship and cheapest I've found. Their packaging was bare bones, but it did the job. I was very pleased with their quick service and quality at a decent price.

Well the component is what came with it. I will check out the HDMI cable. Thanks for your input.

James
