1st gen 4Runner - Front speaker options
Hi everyone, I'm back again with another question. I searched the board and surprisingly didn't find any threads dealing with the 1st gen. 4Runner's terribly awful (in size and quality) front stock speaker locations.
I could replace these but they aim at the floor and there isn't a nice variety of aftermarket replacement choices for this size.
I'd like to put a pair of 5.25" in the door but there's a problem. I have an '85 4Runner with crank windows. The interior door panel doesn't cover the whole door (that's just how it is) and there is uneven metal below where I would like to put the speakers. This makes me shy away from mounting speakers there but I really don't have any other choice.
Has anyone put in front speakers in this kind of door or has another suggestion?
Justin

Front Speakers
Just throw them up on the dash. That's what folks do in Alabama. Saves them the trouble of installing them and the the thieves the trouble of tearing up the interior to steal them.
Good luck. Not much room up there at all, but I would think somebody would make something that would replace the OEM speaker and sound halfway decent.

Well, you cant polish a turd.
simple custom door panel extension or kick panel pods... youll be off and running with 5.25s. just because there is a hole there for a "speaker" doesnt mean you have to fill it.
