Tube Beds and Truggies

Noticing more folks inquiring about Tube beds/bobbing beds/ etc. and thought I'd toss a couple out there to chew on.

Everything you see in these pics, I built.

This is my old truck below

Here's a play by play of Vince's truggie being built.

Finally, the finished product

Just thought I'd share. If anyone wants more details on how these were made, let me know.

Should give you guys thinking of this mod some ideas and although, in my head, I copied the Allpro design...it's still original work and you don't have to resort to a company like All Pro to get what you need.

Brian,

Thanks man, it would almost be worth the road trip if time permited. I'm lookin' forward to havin' a beer with you in September.

Cebby,

No, unfortunately its a Nissan frontier CC that I SASd cause it was a pile of crap and kept braking on me. It's about half done in these pics at best. Needed the suspension tweeked, and a new driveline like a 5.7 liter Vortec to push it all. HP 60/Sterling 10.25/Trail Ready Beadlocks on 37 Boggers with a custom fuel system.

I parted it out and finally got a Yota After owning Nissan, 3 Jeeps, and this Trekker..the Yota has em all hands down and so do the yota owners.

Nice work Mark I remeber seeing the CC frontier on nissan4wheelers.com and 4x4parts.com

I had no clue that was you. Are you still running NissanOffroad.net?
I can see why you strayed away from nissans I did I am kinda glad I did way more available for yotas.

Nice work! I am impressed. So....... are you doing this for a living or just teasing us?

I know you got rid of the bender and all, just curious if thats what you did before youre current job.

Shad,

NOR is in good hands and doing well. I'm not involved with anything nissan related. Coming from owning 3 previous jeeps then a nissan--then a yota..I feel the same way and have had 14 consecutive trips since January--while modding--without breaking. Do that with a Nissan.

Will,

I'm retired. It was too much to handle but my thing was NASA, NHRA, SCCA race cars. I put cages in on 2 for Jeg's employees that race and 2 more for SCCA guys. All were SFI inspected and passed tech spec. My hobby is wheelin' and I don't mix the 2. Hell, I ordered most of my tube on my truck from vendor's cause of time restraints and the time it takes to engineer that stuff is unreal.

I just bend tube for me and Vince now. Still have access to my bender anytime, it was part of the trade and these guys are like brothers.

Damn Mark. When you told me you had a Nissan, I had no idea that was what you were talking about. WOW. Anyhow great looking tube bed on that first tacoma, and of course wheeling with Vince's showed your fab skills definently hold up to hardcore trail use! That kid is super hard on his truck!

Thanks Chad. There's a serious learning curve with this stuff and some work I'm proud of, some I'm not. It's the way it goes. Vince's is a masterpiece. Flatout.

I'd put my Trekker up against the nissan anyday and just wheel circles around it. Just like the jeeps this weekend

I spent my whole evening working on a new rear bumper. I'm pysched that I got it done before this run! You'll have to check it out.....a friend and myself slapped it together and did some test pulls on the weld-on shackles trying to break them, couldn't! I imagine getting stuck this next run won't be so bad....it'll give me a chance to break in my new bumper. Can't wait...see you there.
