now practical/safe is sectioning the frame?

so my 4runner has some serious rust on the rear 1/3 or so of the frame. i took it to a shop who wants to cut the bad off, and weld in a good section of frame, how safe is that?

Assuming they weld it on straight and the welding is solid, it shouldn't be a problem.
