Is it wrong that I find that arousing ????
Great motor choice, good tq.. good economy to from the trail...
Good call on ditching the TH400, good tranny but takes 60hp to run, and no OD... Have you thought about the NV 5600?? One extra gear between 1st and 4th(1:1)??

i have thought about the 5600, but 4500's are easier to find, and advance adaptors makes an adaptor plate to a 32 spline 203 (doubler), this engine doesnt rev really high, but with the granny gear and 4:1 low range is more than enough for a diesel

you dont need any chips or computer crap with this thing since its pretty much all mechanical, you adjust fuel with a diesel where as gas u increase air, that the beautiful thing about this motor, its simple and easy to work on

as i recall from the bottom of the sump oilpan to the top of the aftercooler was around 31", its about as long as a chevy SB, except with around 4.020 bore and a 4.720 stroke, weighing approx 700lb which is why im fabbing up a new frame 1" taller than the old, but if u notice the whole crank assembly is mostly inside of the block, and the sump sticks down about 8" and the rest of the oilpan sticks down about maybe 2" giving me a lot of clearance for the axle, ill post some mor pics and get some more offcial measurements this weekend, none the less its going in there whether or not i have to modify the hood

Hello all, used to work for Cummins. The data plate on the drives side of the front cover has an engine serial number on it. It is an eight digit number number probably start with a 3, 4 or 5. You can take that number to any Cummins dealer and they can get you parts and other information about the engine. The only draw back that I recall about the B series is that they do not have removable liners. Other than that they are pretty bullet proof.

I forgot to mention. If you go to quickserve.cummins.com and get a password you can then enter the engin number and it will give you a parts breakdown of the engin as it left the factory. Unfortunately offen times the part numbers will have been superseceded multiple times. Part number games is one of Cummins favorite games to play. Hope that this is helpful. Oh, I would shy away from rebuilding turbos, injectors and or fuel pumps. Recon parts are available and are usually very reliable. Just my thoughts.
