Aluminum conundrum

To all the fab guys that know there metals, Im doing my om617 turbo swap in under a month and was told making the adapter plate is 3/4 6061 aluminum plate. Now iv called over 2 dozen shops and no one carries it and would have to order it in BUT they do use 5086 in 99% of the shops i called.
What would be the down side of making the adapter plate out of 5086
pros? Cons?

the average price was 300$+tax for a peice of 17x17 3/4 6061.

I have no idea about the differences in the aluminums, but if the raw material is going to cost that much I would say just buy the most basic kit from tdswaps.com. I would also try making a thread in the diesel swap area, I know there are a bunch of people who have done this swap and could tell to the thickness of plate that they used.
