The problem is that this is on a 92' 4-runner and it is a coil spring setup so I don't have a stock hanger to measure from (which every body has written that you measure 8-1/2"-9" from stock location if you have a leaf spring setup already) so I guess I could go 3-1/2"(7"/2=3-1/2") farther forward than your measurement cause my springs are 7" longer than yours, the reason i'm asking all these questions is cause i want to measure 4 times and weld once so i don't dog walk like you are talking about and end up having to cut off the hangers. Thanks again for the reply

Oh I thought you were doing to the truck in your avatar. I would position the axle where you want it and tack up one hanger. Then measure the distance from the front of the rear hanger to the front of the front hanger and use that measurement to locate the other rear hanger, that way not only will they be he same but it will be square witht the front hanger, and your truck should then be square.

Iam bassically waiting on parts, calipers, union tee, 3rd members, d-shafts, etc.. I also ordered a set of 36x12.5r15 tsl sx's, today

Ive been talking to dave at marlin about the kit and he is sending me some parts to play with for a rear bumpstop system and an upper shock mount set up for the 2nd gen runners, since their kit doesnt have one. So basically now im a R&D vehicle for Marlin Im going to do some work to the parts that I get and put it all togeather and see how it works. Ill keep you guys and marlin posted on how that all goes. and maybe youll see my idea on the sas kit

Also I started cutting body away in the quarter panels because my axle was a little to far back even after I moved it up a hole on the perch. Plus Im going to be running the 36's and Im going to be setting up the rear bump stops so I can tuck way up under the body. I think Im going to go with High angle driveline for the d-shafts bc its not expensive and they know what they are doing on a toyota. But they said that I will not be able to drive above 5mph without the front shaft vibrating!?! I heard guys could pull it off on auto v6's with a single case.

Thats what i thought, they may be covering their ass. Jessie seems to now a lot, which I know the owner of high angle DL would, escpecially about toyotas, and their prices are cheaper than buying the spline kits and having them made by joe schmo here in the anti offroad capital of the country, chicago.

Are you running a manual?

Hey who knows how many grams of shot/ball bearing/bb's I need to put in a 72lb 36" tsl.

Mail your 3rds to a professioanl "ZUK " (gearinstalls.com). He does nothing but Toyota 3rds. He knows how to make them strong as hell.

I just shipped him both of my e-locking 3rds today for him to install cryo'd 5.29's. He charges $200.00 to intall gears. It cost me $76.00 to ship both of them FedEx ground.

Tell him Greg Bennett set you.

Send a message via AIM to AznSky
also if you want another place to work with, try www.jcroffroad.com They're located in Kalamazoo, MI which is about a 3 hr drive from Chicago I'd say.

I got my gears setup by them, their friends of mine and ex-club members.

Yea he’s a great guy. He’s really been good about answering questions I've had.

I’ll be sure to tell my 3rds to not pick on yours to much .

Ok update, im basically done but im now just waiting for parts, I mailed out my 3rds to ZUK in az. I ordered driveshafts from jessie at high angle drivline (great guy) waiting for 2 calipers, 36" tsl sx's, and the parts from marlin to try and make the bumpstops and upper shock mounts for the rear end.

Im getting antsy, I spent every night from 5pm-2am in the garage for 3 weeks. Now Ive got nothing to do. I think I might push the thing out of the garage and reorganize the garage, if I do that then Ill flex her out and get some poser pics for ya'll.

If you can, post a picture of what you did with the panhard braket mount. Did you cut it off and plate it or just cut it off?

Hey 4rnr, did you wax your truck for that photo op?? She looks mighty shiny. Is that an engine hoist I see flexing the front end?

So that the shock eyes are perpendicular to the axle - this allows articulation w/o binding the shock eye. They way you have them mounted, there may be binding. Likely not a big deal...

I check to see if the way I have it will bind and the bushings have enough flex in them that I can put about a 30* angle on them using little more force than the wieght of the shock, so I should be ok. Plus in order to mount the shocks like this / \ they would have cris-crossed ( X ) bc the shock is long and the truck is sitting pretty low, as you can see from the shackle angle. I did some research and found that alot of guys started like this / \ and switched to this l l bc of stability, abd after thinking about it it makes perfect sence bc the truck is able to pivot or teeter on the narrow couple inch base provided by the upper shock mounts when they are like this / \, but its all hypathetical and I will see how it does, I could be wrong.

No I didnt wax it but it does look strangly clean now that you mention it, escpecially since it is COVERED in metal dust from all of the grinding and cutting.

Hey 4rnr what size shocks did you use? the bilstein 5125 12" stroke? and you heard that it is better to mount the shocks like this l l instead of /\ cause I was considering mounting like /\ but if you say you've researched it and people are changing back to OEM style of mounting i wont even bother trying the /\ style.

Well like I said / \ wasnt and option bc the shock was too long (5125 12'' I think) I dont have any first hand experiences in comparison though. It makes sence to me. The only thing I would change from the design I have (and it might not be necesarry) is to have the monts perpendicular to the axle, but I had the other mounts already so....

I can post pics if you want.

Last night was fun the roads weres so icy that my fiance lost controll of her fj62 (62girl)and smashed the front and rear of it, then about 20 min later I left the house to go get some chinese, and came up over a hill and saw an 8 car pile up at the bottom of the hill and cars flying everywhere. I felt left out so I dicided to hit the brakes and join the ice-cepades. I slid about 200 ft and finally managed to get the 88 runner off the road then I slid about 100 ft before I managed to get it to hit a nice big bush, going 15mph. However, the most important thing is I got the chinese food.
