Spring 2008 Trip Schedule
January 12: Axle Alley – Westfall & Schaefer (Hard)
Meet: 8:30am Leave at 9:00am Gold Canyon Shell (US 60 & Kings Ranch Road) 7138 E Highway 60 Gold Canyon, AZ 85218 ______________________________________________ January 26: Sandy Beach (Four Peaks area) - Westfall (Hard) CANCELED ______________________________________________ February 9: Cross Verde and out Log Corral – Reynolds & Schaefer (Medium) Feb 9, 2008, the plan is to run Log Corral. The Forest Service or BLM or someone is gateing alot of access in the area. Elvota has been scouting heavily and we will have a trip reguardless, even if it is Sunflower (Josh's Trail). So meet at the Arby's on 87 (Beeline Highway) and Shea Blvd at 8:30AM for a 9:00am pull out. Log Corral is a medium trail, it has a few hard sections at the beginning. I would have at least a rear locker and sliders although Jon ran it open, so I guess it is how much abuse you are willing to inflict on your rig. ______________________________________________ February 16, 2008 (Saturday) - Table Mesa (4+ rated trails) CANCELED ______________________________________________ February 23: Elvis - Woodpeckers – Schaefer (Easy) Casey and Charles from California will be here so we are moving the run formerly set for Edwards Park out to Florence Junction and running Elvis and the Woodpeckers. Meet: 8:30am Leave at 9:00am Gold Canyon Shell (US 60 & Kings Ranch Road) 7138 E Highway 60 Gold Canyon, AZ 85218 ______________________________________________ March 8: Miners Revenge – Westfall or Schaefer (Medium or Hard) Details to follow…. ______________________________________________ March 22: Lake Pleasant to Crown King, Overnight in Crown King and then run DeSoto the next day– Steve S. (Easy/Medium) Details to follow…. ______________________________________________ April 4 & 5: AZRocks2008: Florence Junction (Easy to Hard) Details to follow…. ______________________________________________ May 3: 404 Area: Reynolds (Medium) Details to follow…. ______________________________________________ May 17: Bad Medicine and/or Highway to Hell: Florence Junction Area Trails - Westfall (Harder) Details to follow…. ______________________________________________ May 28 to June 1: Moab, Utah Details to follow….

Are we going to do anything about Log Corral/Verde conflicting with Tim's 4 Peaks Cleanup, or just leave it as an either/or situation? What's the general consensus? IIRC it could possibly hook up with the 404 area on 5/3 no?

So to answer your question, I'm still planning on running Log Corral as planned. We could stop on the way back and participate in the clean up.

Any word on this Steve?? I know it's a little far out still but I'm trying to plan my vacation days and was wondering if it was something that my 4runner would be able to run.

You 4Runner would be more than capable. The Escalante trip would not be considered a "wheeling" trip. There will be plenty of dirt roads and a couple sections that will require 4WD... but my vehicle is always extremely overbuilt for the area. Basically, it will be a trip to see some amazing scenery and do some very cool hikes. The exact route has yet to be determined, but the trip will require everyone to be ready for car camping with trips into town everyday for refuel and food. Will bring our dog and most likely camp in a tent next to the 4Runner.

Crown King sounds like fun. If we need to kill more time on day one there is always Minnehaha Flat. All of the tractors, buildings and truck are from that area in the pics at the bottom of the page at my blog here:

Unfortunately there is quite a bit of water at Sandy Beach, so we are going to plan it when the desert dries out some more. Rain is in the forecast for this weekend as well, so right now nothing has been planned.
We'll see how the weekend pans out.

There's a chance I might be in AZ for this run...
February 9: Cross Verde and out Log Corral – Reynolds & Schaefer (Medium) I am planning to fly out for a business meeting on Friday, I could stay for Sat's run.
