4Wheeling at Reddish Knob

I went camping last night at Reddish Knob, near Harrisonburg. We were camped right off of FR 85 about 3 miles from the nearest blacktop road. From the road to the campsite, the forest road isn't too bad. I've driven it in a Grand Am (slowly). Past camp, it starts getting rougher. Unfortunately, I didn't get picks of the rough stuff because I was busy driving

From what I've been told, it takes about 2.5 hours to drive from camp to the end of the forest road. It dumps you off in Ottobine, not far from the base of the mountain. My friends did it in a stock Durango, so a 4Runner, stock or otherwise, should have no problem assuming the driver is capable.

Pics here

Let's try to plan a day trip or overnighter. If we camp out, camping is primative.

so when are we going?i know there are alredy a lot of things planned, the drive in, repair weekend, etc. BUt an actuall wheeling get together would be better than either of those in my opinion.

Hmm, don't really know. I haven't thought about it much since I posted. After this weekend, my weekends are pretty much open until the baby comes (end of August). Sept-Nov is pretty much trashed due to training classes I have to take (all weekend classes and all day when I'm in class). Grrr. Those classes are going to pretty much ruin hunting season this year (and I just got a new rifle), but I don't have any other choice if I want those Certs.

What's closer to NoVa? Reddish Knob is a 2.5 hour drive to get there, then 2.5+ hours on the trail. That means a solid day of driving. I was hoping to do it as an overnight trip, but I don't think I'll be able to do that for a while.
