york compresser

so I did a search and not much came up, looked on pirate but couldn't find it in the FAQ's page, looking to run a york compresser on 3.0, as of now I want to just put the york in there with no tank, becuz I only want to use it to air up my tires. So I was wondering if any of you guys have fabbed up any mounts that would allow you to adjust the tension on the belt. I figured any truck with air brakes would have a york? yes, no where would I find one in a junkyard, what kind of vehicle? any write ups out there?
Any info would be awesome thanks

The best vehicles to get them out of are late 70's volvos. The Ford's apparently have a large exit elbow that adds around 3" to the height of the unit. I was thinking about mounting it in the 3.0 engine bay too, but have you seen how cramped they are and how large the york compressor is? I bought mine for about 20 bucks ± a few. To give you an idea of how large the York is, here's a picture:

The gas can right next to it is ~5 gallons. I'm not saying it can't be done, but it's going to be incredibly difficult to mount in there without issues.

Look at any old Mercede's also, they all used Yorks, can usually be had pretty cheap, if nothing else, call Bud's Benz. I used to work there. Ask for Chris Rigby, and tell him Chris Redd sent you, he'll hook you up on price!!! At least call him and get a qoute, they got TONS of used ones.
