Water proofing a 1998 3.4 L Taco 4x4, how?

I have a 98 taco that I intsalled a Safari Snorkel on and also run the front and rear diff breathers up high on.. What else besides an electric fan do I need to waterproof on it? Can't seem to find ( or get to ) the auto trans and t-case breathers. What about electrical problems if I go in water past the bottom of the doors? If water comes into the cab ( a couple inches of water on the floor) will it short things out? I plan to get a flex a lite fan. Any suggestions? Thanks!

You could try putting dielectric grease in exposed electrical connectors.
Likely the t-case breather does not have a hose it has like a cap on the top of it. You would have to replace it with a nipple connector so you could run a hose to extend it.
I am unaware of a breather for the automatic transmission. Likely if it does have one it is the same kind as the t-case.

If you think that water might come into your doors, the I would move the computer as it is in the kick panel, can't remember which side. If that thing gets wet and shorts then you are gonna be stranded until you get a new one in.

Ok, Thanks guys. Any idea how to get at the t-case and auto trans breathers? Do you have to go in through the cab floor?? As for the ECU, does it hurt anything to silicone seal the heck out of it?

Why? That sucker is mounted up behind the passenger air bag. If you can get water up that high, more power to ya!

Seriously though, Silicone RTV sealant works really well on things like the control box for the electric fans. I just squeezed a bunch of this junk into the vulnerable plug-in areas on my FLX210 control box and it worked awesome. Totally sealed that puppy off. I really like the fact that the stuff hardens after a few hours (still flexible though) and allows you to unplug wires if you have to.

So the ECU is behind the passenger airbag? I thought so, but I've read that it was behind the drivers side kick pannel and also that it was someplace else. I had an electrical box under the drivers seat that I relocated, but I think that was just for the keyless entry. Not sure. But ya, if the ECU is behind the pass airbag I'm pretty safe with that. Thanks.

Sorry, the engine ECM is behind the airbag (well under it, sort of). You are right, the 4WD/e-locker ECU is in the drivers side kick panel, and the anti-skid ECU is in the passenger foot well. To be honest, I am not sure if RTV would do anything bad. I don't see why it would...
