Toyota Pickup Suspension Lift?
Hey guys, i'm new to this forum.
I read the sticky on lifts, but I didn't see anything that'll fit my truck.
I'm lookin at getting a suspension lift for my 94 pickup to make it a little more trail-ready. Except every kit i've seen so far won't fit a automatic 2wd ext cab truck.
So i was just wondering if any of you guys have experience lifting a truck like mine, or know of any kits that'll do so.
Thanks alot!
-Cameron

Easy solution. SAS/4WD conversion. Your 2WD frame has more arch in the front than a 4WD frame and you have a lot less to cut off. Get a solid axle for the front and a 4WD tranny and transfercase. Here is the kit that you need.

Then your rig can be as cool as mine.

At ORW the guy tried to sucker me into spending $3200 on a uniball kit.
I don't have that kind of money

Do you want 4wd or are you happy with 2wd?
Personally, I would go with doing a SAS, but there is also the consideration of added price, as you will need to get a tranny/t-case from a 4wd, You could just do the SAS now, and then do the tranny/t-case later when you have more money, and in the meantime just survive with a locker in the rear end
If you don't think that you will ever get into anything that would require more than a lifted 2wd, then go with something like what downey has to offer and put a locker in the rear end
Either way, throw a locker in the rear end

Well actually its stock right now. I'm trying to make it ready for some trails and maybe dunes. I like having a 2WD, less can go wrong. I think i'm gonna go with Downey's Grand-Slam kit for now, and yeah a rear locker once i get a little more money.

Oh, and I know that fabtech sells a kit for 2wd also, I have no idea on $$$ or if they are any good or not,
Hey, you do have a point on less stuff can go wrong, and if you don't need it there, then it's only hurting and not helping,
And a locked 2wd with some lift and tires will get you places an open diffed 4wd wont

Educate me.
Why on earth does the transmission matter on 2wd trucks and not 4wd trucks?
Since absolutely nothing on a suspension lift has to do with the transmission, why would it matter which one you have?

I've seen tons of kits that say they're only made for manual trucks. So i was just asking if this fabtech kit is one of them.

Perhaps you are looking at kits for trucks with manual hubs? There are many kits that put a more excessive angle on the front CV's, making them ill suited for trucks with drive flanges where the CV's spin all the time. The axles wear out too quickly.
Manual hubs eliminate the problem since they can be unlocked for highway use.
In your case, this would be irrelevant. You, however, would need to get a 2wd lift.
I have never, ever seen a kit that only works with a manual transmission.

I had a Fabtech IvanDan lift/longtravel on my '89 2WD. Fabtech doesn't make them anymore, but I've seen them on eBay new (like someone bought up all the old stock).
It was AWESOME. I think it was like 7" of lift, but I still rubbed a bit with 31's, so if you want to go to a significant tire size, it's probably going to take a body lift too. Check out www.4crawler.com
Fabtech and others make lift spindles.
