For those of you with cruiser coils
Can you guys take some measurements for me? Go sit on your tailgate and measure the before and after distance from your rim to the fender (in the rear). Also report your weight and whether you have a body lift.
Also, I need pictures of your coils preferable before they were installed, but installed would be fine too. And lastly, I need to know what year of LC they came out of.

Mine seem to be really soft, but I don't know if it's normal or not. I got mine out of a LX450 and there's contradictory info on ih8mud.com about whether the lexus coils are the same as all the other coils. Most people over there are saying the coils from 93-97 are the same, regardless of whether it's a lexus or not. But, there are some bits of info which might suggest otherwise. I'm trying to find more evidence.
Right now, I cranked the tbars 1 inch and my rear is dead even with the front. Most people are at least 1-2 inches higher than the front and they're using 1.5 BJ spacers. I have the heavy rear bumper, so I don't know if it's because of that.
Oh, and interestingly enough, even though one of the coils was 1 inch taller than the other, I'm even left to right.

I'm afraid if I load it up with camping gear or tow a trailer, it's going to sag pretty bad. Plus, I'd still like to get it a bit taller in the rear. If all else fails, I'll see if I can find some kind of cheap spacer.

Robinhood,
The springs have to be different. When I look into the rear wheel well from the side of my truck I can see the very top of the cruiser coil above the 33 MFG MTs I have on right now. Granted, I don't have a heavy bumper like you but I just hauled a bunch on plywood in the back and the rear still sits higher than the front.

Steve - I can dig mine out and measure/mic them so you have something to compare to. When I talked to Cristo when ordering the coils Bill and I received, I think he said they were out of 95's.

Thanks guys. With the pictures I'm looking to see if the number of coils is different, by sitting on the tailgate I'm looking to see if the spring rate is different. Mike, did you get a chance to measure the wire diameter?
It looks like I've finally convinced the mud guys that the coils are indeed different. http://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=45074

We need to have Bill mic his. I have one that is 16mm and one that is 15.4mm If Bill's are also different dia., that may be the early model solution to the long spring on the tank side on the later models. (???) Bill's sits level driver to passenger side IIRC.
Looks like Christo owes me a different spring.

Blah blah blah...hurry up with the engine swap and tube bending...
Interesting that they're different. I only measured one coil so I'll go measure the other one tonight.

i just realized that i have 2 sets of FJ coils (front and back) right now in my possesion, but one set is currently on my 4Runner, along with my stock springs. so if you want, if im not too busy tomorrow, i can take some more pics of some 96 FJ's compaired to 94 Runner. and hopefully by monday i can get the short side swaped out and compair the two short side FJ's. im sure sure what year the ones i have on now are, i think they're 97.

You're swapping out your rear cruiser coils for front cruiser coils? I'm confused. Pics would be nice.
But either way, it sounds like you're going to have an extra pair just sitting around. Wanna sell them?
Edit, on second thought, your looks pretty level, how soft are the springs? When I sit on the tailgate (I weigh 150) of mine, the truck sags 1 inch as measured at the tailgate.

You should see it now with an ARB winch bumper, and 33" BFG MTs on ALCOA rims (See page 2 here https://www.yotatech.com/forums/show...9&page=2&pp=25)
Yea, that bumper is well, ahh, temporary.....Mike, hint, hint.
I can't mic the coils until Thursday. I'll let you know.

and i would sell them to you, but i think i already have a buyer waiting. they're soft, and i love the ride. i don't know how much they sag when i sit on the tail gate, cause i don't have anybody around currently to measure when i sit on it. i'll see what i can do for pics and measurements tomorrow.
