shackles...
Well i know im prolly gonna get yelled at about not usin the search button.. but anyways, what does everyone think about shackles on the front of my sas pkup? I only use it for hunting and mud bogging. it will be driven on the street occasionly. I will have 40x16x16 swamper LtB's on it. I want to lift my front end 2-3 more inches and i cannot find anyone that sells just FronT end lift. Any links for recommended sites? thanks guys

I run 3" longer than stock (2" lift) shackles on the front of my 81 and DD it and have no problems... you can buy just front leaf springs to lift your truck 3-4 inches if you haven't already...

you can't have leaf spring attached to shackles at both ends.the springs would constantly move back and forth.leafs must be bolt to a hanger of some sort at one end

it's gonna be really hard to clear 40's with a shackle lift if not impossible.
you could put OME rear lift springs in the front.. that will give you a lot of lift
or stock rear springs up front
pro comp also sells just front lift springs, and so does OME
do some research

im not tryin to clear 40's with just shackles. i alreaedy have more than enough lift, all i want to do is raise my front end a inch higher than the back to produce the bulldog effect. i dont want to do leaf springs because i already have lift springs on it. so if i make a shackle into a hanger on the rear of the spring then i can put the longer shackle on the front of the truck? thanks for the help guys

So you want to run a hanger in the rear of the front leaf, and a long shackle in the front of the front leaf?....
If thats the case, heres my input. It wont matter, one is not easier to get lift out of than the other. If your front shackles are at 45* then add 2" to the shackle and call it done. Try not to acheive lift at the front of the spring, it will rotate your axle toward "flat" or 0* caster, and then you will be back here asking why your truck shakes VIOLENTLY at 35 mph

what i want to know is if you have more than enough lift why dont you just leave it how it is?
if you want the front higher than the back, just drop the back a bit, it will lower your COG rather than raise it.
lift is a bad thing, you should try and get the most tire under a small lift

do you have any body lift? if not why not just put one on to clear bigger tires. or just lower the psi in the rear tires to get the bulldog effect. i am really confused by the way.

he said he already had more than enough for his desired tire size which is why i'm stumped as to why he wants more :/

what springs are you running up front? when you say your axle moves back do you mean rotating, 3rd member moves up?
i may be able to help with this if you can get some pics, sounds like mine before i put brackets on to keep the spring packs together
oh and as far as a driveshaft goes, you could build one of these with hitch tubing (it has no inner seams)
just find a hitch shop and get about 18" of male/female seamless square tubing
it has an easy foot of sliding range and only cost me $30, also very strong. beats a long spline in every aspect imo
