I need help with rebuilding the aisin manual locking hubs for 86-95 IFS

i am buying a pair(used) of the aisin hubs to replace the A.D.D. on my 4runner. i was thinking that since i have them off and if it isnt too hard i could rebuild them and paint them and make them look and work like new. i was also wondering if anyone had a pic of all of the nessecary hardware so i know that i get every little piece for the install. thanks

they are a peice of cake to rebuild. all you do is take them apart and replace 2 gaskets and clean everything up. when you take them apart to paint make sure you do NOT loose the ball and spring. i lost my spring, but i had a spare set of hubs, so i just used the other hubs. hope it all works out

The ball bearing pushes out into the little dimple where the manual hub turns and stops, thus keeping the knob from just turning on its own, and the spring pushes the ball bearing out into that dimple. Without the ball bearing and spring, your hubs are USELESS. Funny huh...

Try your local dealer...

http://www.marlincrawler.com/axleparts.html

or any other place that sells Toyota parts...shouldn't be hard to find at all.

the spring isnt in the right poisition when u put it together. you need to take the hub off the hub body and turn it so that the spring becomes compressed. than put it back

Get a FSM or a copy of the FSMs instructions before you mess them up and have to buy new ones. $290 each
