Dual mini Yellow tops or Single large yellow top?? that is the question

I was wondering about doing this. 2 of THESE (ULT-9073-167 bottom of page) batteries occupy about the same size as 1 regular size. would it be smarter to run 2 500ca batteries instead of 1 1000ca battery? one is enough to start and run my everyday use, but the reserve power of 2 seperate smaller batteries seems like it would be better, planning on future upgrades (lights winch ect) but I am no electrical engineer! and would it be better to run in parrallel or series and why???

I have one of these batteries here in the shop. it is used as the auxillary battery in the new RX400h hybrids. it is definitly small!

Holy non-posting batman! I'd at least expected a post from jimabean or waskilly by now!

so from the lack of enthusiasm I guess this is a bad Idea?
I'm trying to increase my electric storage without decreasing my space!

Parallel is the connection you want, batteries in series add the voltage so unless you are planning to upgrade your vehicle's components to 24 volts, it serves no purpose.

I run 2 smaller AGM batteries in my truck, a pair of 800CA units, fairly easy to drain one in camp, at about 26AH capacity, but then there is the one in reserve:

I like the way it sounds...if you do it let us know how it works, I'd like to look into it if it turns out well
