One option is the Marlin MC10 adapter - puts a gear drive reduction box in front of your current chain drive case. Before people start clamoring about chain drive not being strong enough - BS. Chain drive cases are holding up just fine behind supercharged 3.4's making WAY more power than your 3.0 is ever gonna put out!
The best solution to your shifter problem is a linkage triple stick in the factory location. Search on Pirate - there's a guy who makes them for people.
