Buying a WINCH
I need a new tool for my truck. Having gotten myself into some ridiculous situations as of late I am going to buy an 8000 or 9000 lb winch within the next couple weeks. I solo wheel a lot and drive logging/oil roads for hunting and fishing purposes. At some points these roads are almost impassable without a winch. Here is my question:
MileMarker 8000,9500 or Warn 8000? Warn's line speed is faster, warns motor has slightly more hp, warns winch is 300 more dollars! I'm looking to see if you folks can give me real world advice. I also see Warn has much stronger pull ratings once you get lots of line out past 3 or 4 wraps.
4 bills or 7 bills looks like the comparison as far as money goes.
399.99=>
670=>
Any ideas, tips, info and personal experiences would be awesome.

Ive got the warn m8000 and its worked flawlessly. Go Warn.
I've used it on a couple long pulls...never had a problem and my truck is HEAVY.
On another note, I never thought I would use it so often.

Its not something worth taking the risk with.....and warn has a proven history...milemarker does on their hydraulics, but I just think that if u get something and it doesnt turn out as good as you;d like, what can u do? u made a several hundred dollar mistake.....

Wow, this seems pretty unanimous. Looks like Warn it will be. Darn, now I think i'll have to wait another paycheck.

Piett, I got all the gear I need for extraction, I'm currently using my highlift as a winch but it is a slow and arduous process....the only initial investment will be in the winch and the roller fairlead. I'm custom building the mount along with a new custom front bumper.

Never seen a MM in action. Everyone in the club I go with runs Warn except for one. They abuse their Warns quite a bit.
I have the 8k that came with the truck. If I were buying new I would have probaly held out for a 9500. I will definitely swap in synthetic line once I feel like shelling out the cash.

Doood...you need to check with me and Vince before makin' a huge purchase like that. I'm expecting a new WARN Comp winch in the near future and my 8K Warn will be up for grabs.
Screw MM. Yes, you can pull all day with a hydro unit but it will take all day to pull too

I thought another HUGE reason synthetic is a better alternative is because of weight. Isn't it extremely light compared to traditional winch cable?

the weight in my opinion would be one of the biggest pluses because I'm runnig ifs, and my coils don't like much stress on them. It is significantly lighter, is it not?
