33" BFGMT Flat black wheels *pics*
Just an update on my latest. I have been doing too much lurking and not enough posting.
Plus I just a bad ass digital camera for my b-day! So... I purchased these rims from BigSur who is mostly on ih8mud.com. Mike(shifless) was the middle man, thanks again mike! Anyway, they are american racing rims 15X8 that I got for 20 bucks each. I went to town sanding them with air tools and sand paper. The process took forever. ![]() I knew that to get everything to adhere as best as possible, all the chrome had to be scratched up pretty good. ![]() After the sanding they each got two caots of POR15. Bad ass stuff. ![]() After the POR15 dried I lightly scuffed them and painted them with some general purpose flat black spray paint and mounted my 33" BFG MTs. ![]() The results are AMAZING. I love it. ![]() I get no fender rubbing with the aid of my 4Crawler 3" body lift. ![]() ![]() These pics really don't do it justice. ![]() Wanted to see if they rubbed under flex but I didn't really have time to get any more flex than this. ![]() ![]() I have some pretty bad rubbing at full lock on the pitman arm. Other than that they fit perfectly. The look is really mean too.

Thanks, yea I wanted to go flat black since day 1. I have always dreamed of the teflon coated wheels cause they have a flat/satan finish and look bad ass. The POR15 is just a strong foundation.
I have had the wheels on for about a week and have had no problems with the paint so far.

I like how that looks! Good move on the POR15, that's some tough stuff.

Very nice. I started a thread asking about doing that exact thing a while back. I'll be doing it in the spring. I thought about going gloss, but that looks good also.

I remember the thread, I think I had about half the sanding done.
Go flat you wont be sorry.

No, haha.
I drove up some 2x4s but they fell off when I got up so I moved them out of the shot.

Can't remember, I will check after work. Where did you get the por I got if off of ebay, the package deal for 1 gallon was 105 shipped. It was from "The POR 15 Store" on ebay. I will be doing much more than just the wheels so I got a gallon. A quart would have some left over, in case your wondering. why a 3" body lift on a SOLID AXLE RIG? Two words... DRIVETRAIN LIFT! ...and cause I plan to have really soft springs with lots of articulation so I wont be getting much lift from them. Can you dig it?
