Stock s/c 04 lightning is 380hp/450tq, stock yota is 480hp/and over 500tq (surmised). Even with a modded system the lightning aint gonna touch it to easy. Switch out the pulley, do some fuel mods, have the trans reworked and it will be faster than a dodge ram srt10 with 500hp and 525tq...

Not to shabby..

Why wouldnt they sell to many of them, better built than a lightning and faster. I have ridden in a modified lightning to push 600hp+ now that was fast, but when it was stock yea fast but not insane. With the potential to the s/c tundra street you could tune it to push much higher power than you think, look at the supras pushing 600hp stock..

I already have a vette, which could eat most anything alive that is even lightly modified....but then again mine is modified heavily.

A truck will always be behind an equivelant sports car. Go ask Ram SRT10 about traction and they have no towing capacity and only a 500lb payload. A fast truck gives up what makes it useful in exchange for the power. A truck for me is for utility and off roading;gimme a car anyday. My Eclipse stock could outrun either a lightning or a Ram on the topend anyday and with only 200hp.

I wish Toyota would put out a fun affordable sport coupe again but they seem to be into making mega volumes of great selling vanilla Camrys.
