Tundra owners...

Hey everyone, this is my first post and let me say that this is a great site. Tons of info here.

Here is my situation. I have 91 V6 4x4 currently, and after a hard life so far, she is a little tired. I am seriously considering a Tundra, but have a few questions.

I have found a 2001 (ext cab V8 4x4 21k miles) for sale with an asking price of 18,900. I am going to look at it tommorrow. With a little negotiating, I think I can get a real reasonable deal. Is there anything particular abouth this year to watch out for?

I have never been in a tundra. How roomy is the inside? Aren't they a little smaller than a domestic full size truck? What is the size difference compared to a t100?

How is the V8 motor? As reliable my old V6? I have heard that it has plenty of power, but the gas mileage sucks. What is everyones opinion. Too be honest, reliability is the main reason I plan on sticking with a Yota. Almost 300k on my 91, and still running strong.

Sorry for the overload of questions. Thanks in advance for your help.

You will love your Tundra

VA_Yotaman,

You will be happy with a Tundra. All years are good.
It is roughly the same size as the T100, add an inch here and there... I still have my '96 T100.
The V8 is awsome.
As you may have noticed, we don't have alot of Tundra traffic on this forum - we will - but for now... may I suggest going HERE. You will find all sorts of Tundra information and links.

Keep your '91 if you can (for fuel economy) and get a V8 Tundra (15-18 mpg) as soon as you can.

Good luck.

Great Truck

VA_Yotaman, I love my Tundra. I will admit, my v8 does love to guzzle gas, but If keep to the speed limit on the freeway and resist the temptation of blowing all the other trucks away, the gas does ok. I got my 2000 used with 52k miles on it, and it was still in great shape. I took to the toyota dealer and they 2 recalls that they performed right away, but besides that, they told me the truck was in great shape!! I have since lifted my truck, changed rims and tires and added numerous modifications. My truck sees some serious offroading and keeps coming back for more. As for size, as long as you are not going cross country, four adults will fit nicely and the kids will fit even better in the back seat with baby seats and all. you will love the tundra, trust me.

Hello everyone ! My first day here at yotatech. I've been looking at the pictures of past trail runs and I am very impressed.

VA_Yotaman,

I have a 2000 Tundra Access cab V8 4x4 TRD and absolutely love it. I bought it new in November '99 and have 56,000 miles on it now. In that time I've had the brake TSB done and had both exhaust manifolds replaced under warranty because they leaked. Since then, no problems. If I were in the market for another truck, I'd buy another Tundra. I'm currently a member of another site similar to this one - www.tundrasolutions.com. If your considering a Tundra, I'm sure you'll find this site very helpful.
