New FJ60
I am picking up an 84 FJ-60 later this afternoon. Blue. 180,000miles. Stock suspension with 32 BFG ATs. Mechanically sound (5k in receipts), new brake system, high flow cat w/ flowmaster muffler, front end rebuilt, recent tune up.
The best part is I traded my dirtbike for it. A moderator from ih8mud lives close to me and already has an 80. I am leaving in 2 hours to pick her up, I will have pics up later today.
not sure what I am going to do with it or my 4r for that matter

I am very excited.I have serioud LC envy, but now I don't know what I want. I thought I always wanted an 80, but they are big (wide) I don't know, there is something very appealing about the classic LC "wagon" style.
34" swampers with OME, rear bumper w/ tire carrier and jerry can.....uh oh

so much for "budgeting" ... lol
Don't worry I'm the same way, I get something and I swear to myself, I'm not going to mod it in anyway, and before I know it I'm tinkering with it.

FJ60's only come in 4 speed manual. The 62's only come in auto. (at least in the US)

Well I now oficially own an 84 FJ-60. It runs very well and is a strong, powerful motor. I ran it between 65 and 70 MPH for close to an hour and a half.
I noticed when I got home there is a leak in the power steering pump or a line. I guess the fun has begin. It is going for a state inspection in the am. There is rust on both sides of the rain gutter, a little on the lower doors and tailgate. All very typical, but the frame is solid with NO rot. I a mordering some POR-15 tomorrow and will begin cleaning it up and welding in small holes.
Now for the good. Clear title. 174K orginal miles. New brake system, newer clutch, new slave cyliner, clutch master, cat w/ Flowmaster muffler, 31x10.5 BFG ATs, recent tune-up with new plugs, wires, and belts and complete front axle rebuild.
I need to rebuild the carb, fix the steering pump leak, order POR-15, locate replacement passenger door (inner rot), remove trailer hitch, fix clutch fan. After that I will decide what I want to do or if I will keep it.
i really, really love eh truck. Very strong, incredibly low ratio (especially in 4L), bigger than 4R, Fairly quite, NO squeeks or rattles. It is a project. It will never be a show truck or restoration, but a beater. A well-buit beater that is reliable and capable. Now time to price out 4" springs, new shocks, new brake lines and any other misc. parts.

Don't want to sell any. The wife won't part with hers and i really love wheeling mine. I have it setup the way I want, plus it is a great DD that will haul booty. However I have ALWAYS wanted a 60/62, but everything is expensive. A "simple" OME 3" kit is $1400, so for now I am going to replace all non-OEM parts (oil filter, fuel filter, etc.) with OEM rebuild the carb and re-assess. It has some rust that I am thinking about repairing myself, but I am not sure.
I might just sell it too.
There is a cherry 62 downtown that has been for sale for literally 2 years,......
