LX450 and lockers...school me.

Quick question, did ALL LX450s have front and rear lockers standard or was that an option? What about landcruisers? My buddy has a 97 w/o front or rear. TIA

So it was an option? Did they come stock with the rear and front was an option or were BOTH an option? If so, good luck finding one with both I'm sure.... Lame, my old G Wagon cames with both. How bout the Rubicon 4dr?

Only the 1993-1997 Landcruisers came with front and rear lockers as an option. Of those years, less then 10% came with the front and rear lockers and most of those went to the rocky mountain region of the US. If it came with lockers, then it has both front and rear. Around here, there not to hard to find with the option of F/R lockers.

Most people confuse the center diff lock with having diff lockers. Center diff lock seperates the power from the drive train 50-50 to the front and rear axles, basically an AWD setup. It has NOTHING to do with locking the axles.

I think it was more like 3% had 'em. They're great though!

I understand that. So, is that the same for the LX as far as front/rear lockres? It was an option for both?

Yes, the LX450 had a locking diff option just as the landcruiser did.

And there was no "rear only" option like the tacomas and 4Runners. You either got both, or none. HTH.

Thanks. Sounds hard to find.... Seems at any given time theres half a dozen on CL locally but none w/ either rear or both lockers. Or, at least it doesnt say in the ad, might be there and the owner does not know.

This is what you want to look for. Some people have them and don't even know it. Ask them to take a picture of the left side of the steering column.

Excellent! Thanks for the info and pic! They are electric? Are they problematic? Issues?

Electric. I haven't heard of many issues with them. But if they're not used every once in a while they'll take a while to engage. it's best to use them often...

Check out IH8MUD.com for lots of LC80/LX450 info.
