anyone ever put in a cmshaft in a 22re? i would like to get the 268 rv cam on engnbldr but i had a few questions. first off is it worth the 117$? does it make a noticeable power increase? a noticeable mpg decrease? and what all would i need for instal? thanks guys!

I have ran both the 261 and 268 cam. The 261 is more for off idle performance, low speeds etc. the 268 is more for highway/city driving more 1500 to 3500rpm range. It is worth the money. They are worth about 1-2mpg increase. I would suggest getting a new valve cover seals etc, if you haven't replaced them in a long time.

I really like my 261 cam right now with a pacesetter header running around town, lots of a low end torque. Yeah I would just buy a upper engine gasket kit, comes with all the gaskets to replace any of the old leaky ones you have while you are replacing the cam.

Did you pull the head when you changed your cam Gennro or did the seal stay intact?
I've never not pulled the head but at the same time never just wanted to only change the cam either.

No I did not pull the head. When you do change the cam make sure the engine is cool and drain off some anti-freeze so none gets into the oil/cylinders when you take the head bolts out to remove the rocker assymbly. When you reinstall the bolts some oil will get down in the head bolt holes so use a syringe and some plastic tube to remove some of the oil if not you will end up stripping out the threads in the block.
Head torque is 58 ft/lbs and is applied in 3 steps so I start from the center bolts and work my way out. Starting at 20 ft/lbs then to 40 ft/lbs then to 58 ft/lbs.

Cool, always wondered if loosening the bolts would break the gasket loose too.
When you get your ARP's throw that 58ft-lbs out the window and go up to 70
