4bt upgrade

4bt upgrade
we have a 69 fj40 which is now powered by a 350 chevy, have been doing research on the 4bt cummins which will allow for us to use the cruiser as a daily driver if using all the correct components behind the power plant. was planning
on using a nv4500 trans, from there would like to get some input on transfer case and rear and front axles. gear ratio is important for fuel economy, and the torque range on the 4bt is around 1500-1800 rpms. if any of you folks have any ideas as to the most cost effective way to go on front and rear axles. Thanks

Sounds like a fun project!
If you are using your cruiser as a daily driver and moderate off road use then the stock axles are fine. Advance Adapters has a nice transmission adapter for the NV4500 which will allow you to use your stock transfer case which will also work fine with the conversion. Advance Adapters also makes a bell housing which will bolt up to the NV4500 and will allow you to use your stock Toyota Slave cylinder which is matched to your original Clutch Master.
To use their bell housing which has a Chevy bolt configuration you will need to purchase an adapter plate that bolts to the 4BT and allows you to use a GM style bell housing. This plate is available at Summit Racing.
A mild suspension lift will most likely be need to allow for a little extra clearance between your front drive line to oil pan.
Good Luck!
