Will '99+ key work in '98 ignition?
When I bought my 4Runner the master key was bent and cracked bad. The copies that came with it were bad copies. They sorta worked, took some jiggling to get them to work. I went to the dealer and had one cut off the VIN. They use the same aftermarket ones as hardware stores. These keys seem to wear smooth so quick! After 6 months I could see it wearing and it sometimes wont turn the ignition. I noticed that I can get OEM 99+ Toyota keys cheap. I know they have a transponder but that doesn't matter, I was wondering if I could try having one cut and using it.

My 4runner must be an odd-ball. Its a 2001 but it DOESN'T have a transponder key, just the normal metal one.
