Who's got a ski carrier with their Yakima loadwarrior rack?

Well it's that time of year again for the ski season to kick off and this year I finally have some Yakima gear. I have the 58" crossbars and a Yakima Loadwarrior basket. I'm wondering what ski carriers will work with this set up?? I've looked at Yakima's site but nothing really says how wide it is. I have quite a bit of room on either side of the basket. I really only need to carry one maybe two pairs of skis at most.

Joey, in this very old picture of my rig I have the Yakima Button Down 4 ski rack mounted to the Yak cross bars.

This was shortly after I got the rig.
Now with the Load Warrior on you can still add the same Button Down 4 or 6 model.
They may have changed names by now, but the LW does have built in cross bars so they will work.

I did run the ski racks on there for a bit, but don't have any pics of it on it.

yeah, i was wondering about this too. it's just like your regular cross bars, only they happen to have basket attached to them as well instead of crossbars alone. so whatever ski racks you have will attach right on. the length apart is now fixed i guess, but skis or snowboards should be no problem.

damn guys, given that you guys all have lifts PLUS the height of the load warrior PLUS the additional height added by the ski racks, watch out for low bridges!

I have the load warrior basket and ski racks as well. The ski rack parts will mount on the crossbars on top the basket, but like some others here noted, the height is way up there!

My truck has a 2 1/2" lift on it, so (to not hit my garage door top), I usually take the basket off and just put the ski racks on the crossbars directly.

If you are not concerned with height, put them on the basket I guess. Just be careful of parking gargages etc. since it is pretty high with both basket and rack on. I bought (2) bike hooks with the yellow coating and screwed them into the wall of my garage to hang the basket on when I'm not using it.

Hope this helps.

hey i just have my friend's ski rack on the factory rack. can you guys check how high the yakima crossbars are off the roof of the car? with the factory racks, if i put the skis together to save space the bindings end up hitting the roof and scratching the paint with some of my skis. if you could just measure that for me, that would be awsome, i thinking about getting some. thanks

Hi all

I had a snow board rack that I had on my truck.

I was going 65mph on the freeway and the guy strapped to the roof rack and snow board flew right off all that was left was the snowboard and the shoes that were attached Dooh....

However I removed the rack to place a surf rack there, as its almost surf season. See you in Half Moon bay. I'll be the guy falling off the face of Maverics.....

Oh yea good luck on the ski rack just remember to have the skier take off his shoes before you strap him to the roof....

i have the Yak railrider mounts in the factory rails. the crossbars from the bottom are 3 in to the roof. from the top, it's 4in. from the rubber of the powderhound it's 6.5 inches to the roof.

sweet thanks nofilter, my factory rack is a full inch shorter, so the yakima would solve my needs.
