Unhappy where are the numbers for the tranny ID

My trannys out and I need to know if its G or W series. I looked for numbers on the tranny and firewall with no luck. Its 1990 5-speed, 4cyl, 4x4. Will the vin tell all?

Marlin's site

According to that you have a G58. Or maybe a W56. There should be a plate in your driver's door jamb if its not on the top center of the firewall.
