Hell, if I had the money I would like the automatic kind. But its not really worth it.
Larry, With Stauns you simply give them the amount of turns you want deflated, screw them on and walk away to prep your rig for other stuff. None of that running from tire to tire wondering if you are at 10psi or 1psi. Before getting my Stauns I felt stressed getting my rig ready for runs. After getting my Stauns I had time to spare (shooting the chit with others and gulping down hateraid). I dont wheel much these days but I am glad to know I will have them ready to go for my next run. If I did it all over again I would get the Oasis deflators being looks like you get much more for only a few bucks more.

Tire deflators are not a waste, airing down is a necessary part of wheeling. I would hate to spend a half our at the trail head while you guys air each tire down with a key.

With the Stauns, you set the lock collar to deflate to a certain level, screw it all the way on and then it stops when it is there.

This web wheeler wishes he had Oasis deflators.

Thats a good point. The first few times I used them it was kinda stressful running around to each tire. But now i've got it timed.

My tire deflation routine:
Pull up to the base of the trail and hop out with Stauns in hand. I will prep the deflators by giving all of them around 4-5 turns and putting them on. So they are all deflating and I am prepping my rig for the terrain. two to five minutes later at the very most I grab all of the stauns and hit the trail. I figure I save around a solid thirty minutes of prep time with Stauns over using a key. But different strokes for different folks. I wonder if anyone has ever forgotten their automatic deflators like stauns or oasis deflators on their rig and lost them wheeling. I would flip.

Get the Stauns. Easy for me to say, my spotter got em for me last Christmas! Now he's got a rig though, and Christmas is coming up. DOH!

Get him the Oasis set. They seriously look much nicer and you get more toys.
