Westin Safari Light Bar for 2003 4Runner
Hi all,
The West Safari Light Bar is out for the 2003 4Runner. Does anybody have it on their 03 yet?
To those who have it on their older 4Runner, how do you like them? Are they heavy? Do they hold out well?
Here is a link I found on ebay of the bar on an 03.

Not to offend anyone that may have this, but it looks... not the greatest. It seems to hang the lights really low and the whole thing looks like it would take away from your approach angle.
Also, the shape doesn't fit any of the forms on the 4Runner so it really looks tacked on, imo.
Of course, things look different in real life but that's my reaction to it.

I beg to differ, my dad's 01 Tacoma has it and it looks a heck-of-alot better than the wrap around bull bars most people have. Though I agree the entry angle might be affected.
One note, my dad had problems with the included brackets. They were too thick and the bolts used to hold the tow hooks/brackets would no longer reach. So he fabbed some up himself. Another thing, if you insall lights on it, keep your rock guards on! He has a huge chip in one of his hellas because they sit so low they are more susceptible.

firstToy is right it does sit low for the lights.
but if u want something to hang lights on get it,But you should look at stronger options like bullbars that are stronger and look just as good there are heaps of choices around.

I think it would look better on the Taco than the new 4Runner. I've seen it on the Frontier.

I love this one- the lights look like they are in a much safer and more usable place. Maybe they make one that doesn't wrap all they around the front corners?
Does anyone know who sells a winch mount and those lights for the 03? The winch looks especially clean install.
I'm guessing the toyota optional bar is more for looks... is it even metal? If it were, you could mount lights on top of it.

You are right FirstToy, they do put the lights way too low. I do like the ones on the Global Extreme truck alot. Safari Gard Inc. makes them.
Here is the list for all the parts on it:
Global Extremes 4Runner Aftermarket Modifications
* Safari Gard Inc. front bumper
* Safari Gard Inc. winch mount
* Safari Gard Inc. rear bumper
* Safari Gard Inc. rock sliders
* Goodyear Wrangler MTR 265x70R17 tires
* Allied Wheel beadlock wheels
* Hella Rallye 4000 lights
* Hella FF300 lights
* Yakima roof rack and net
* Pelican cases
* Superwinch X9000
* Odyssey battery 1700

if you guys are planning to do any offroading (mild->serious), i'd recommend waiting for the arb or tjm steel bumpers.
those grill guards are useless (my opinion though... so don't flame me! hehe).
also the steel bumpers are better for accidents (if you get into one...)
but if it's just for looks, i'd say they look pretty cool

Hey guys,
Do me a favor and if you are even considering the Safari Gard parts for the 4th gen 4Runner, CALL THEM!
They are taking names and contact info- I think they want to see if there is enough interest.
Order Department: (800)820-GARD___General Information: (909)698-6114
Contact Us By Email: sales@safarigard.com
They told me they are about 4-6 weeks out.
After doing some good off-roading yesterday (the sides of my truck look like a topo map!) I definitely want the rear protector and at least the option of the rock sliders.
Call 'em up and generate some interest so we can have some options for our trucks!
