Question Want to help me interpret these OBDII trouble codes??

After my buddy was driving my 4runner to attempt to pull my fj out of the ocean (long story.... ) I've been plagued with a CEL. I've cleared it about 3 times in the past three weeks by pulling the ECU fuse for a half hour or so, but the CEL keeps coming back within an hour of driving.

Today I borrowed my buddy's nice OTC OBDII scanner, and using the generic OBDII chip I pulled the following codes in this order:

Under CODES:
(1) P0171 B
Bnk 1 Sys Too Lean

Under PENDING CODES:

(2) P0130
02 Sens B1 S1 Malf

(3) P0133B
02 Sens B1 S1 Slow Response

(4) P0001
See Service Manual

NOTE: After clearing these codes with the scanner and driving for about 45 min the "P0171 B - Bnk 1 Sys Too Lean" came back, but not the rest.

My interpretation is that the bank 1 o2 sensor may have gotten fouled up during the long idle then high revs when I was getting pulled out, my friend taking my runner up to 100 mph to get to me before the tide came in, or maybe by long term lean out form the Super Charger on a stock motor.

I'm assuming that this should be the o2 sensor in front of the cat, but the "Bank 1 Lean Out" has me a little confused. Is there an o2 on each manifold? Or does bank one just refer the first o2?

Second question, by clearing the codes with the fuse method, is that just clearing the CEL while keeping the codes cached, or does that wipe the codes completely from memory? I just want to make sure that these aren't from a previous issue.

I did have a CEL come on right after I put my IPT VB in, but it never came back until after the "pull my fj40" incident. (Which was two weeks and 1500 miles of driving/towing afterwards.) I'm assuming that CEL was caused by me turning the ignition key on while the VB was out, and all the stuff was unplugged.

I also re-oiled my Amsoil filter while the VB was out. But again, I had almost two weeks and 1500 miles of driving/towing before this persistant CEL.
started.

Thanks for any insight!

sounds like the o2 sensor is shot..... first try playing with the wiring, and if its not shorted or frayed, then look to replacing hte 02

There's actually 2, one before and one after. I believe your code is for the one before though.

I've never had to pull the fuse for more than a few seconds.

P0171, P0130, P0133B
Like other folks have said, clean or replace the _front_ O2 sensor. Get 'em from Gadget's URD site.

It wipes them from the ECU's memory. You're looking at new codes each time you see them.

Cool, thanks man. The only reson I pulled it for that long is because I'd just take it out at the beginning of my lunch break when I parked where I was going to eat. I did pull it once for a couple of minutes and it didn't clear the CEL, so I figured better safe than sorry.

I'll try cleaning the thing, then I'lll replace her if it doesn't work.

Thanks again!
