vsc beeping ??
Hello
I m a new user of this forum and own a 03 4runner sr5 v8 since october.
got a question about the sound warning for the vsc...
when is that system suposed to start beeping ?
What kind of sound it is suppose to do ?
Find that strange to always got the visual warning and not the beeping one ?
the dealer told me that s to get the sound one you are supposed to be on a really nice slide ??!!
any comments from 03 owner thanks.

Well, the system goes back to the 2001 models, and yes, that's normal. It really gets going in some off-road situations when the TRAC system adds it's beeping as well! Nothing like feeling your in a fighter jet or in a missle command center locking on your targets!  :tomcat:
Oh, I don't think I answered your question. :alien: Maybe you haven't put it into enough of a skid yet, although it doesn't take much. I honestly forget as I haven't seen snow for about a year, but if the skid is really minor, I'm thinking that symbol lights up without the beeping. Can't remember for sure.
By the way, welcome!

It's all covered in the owner's manual. You'll get the beep (intermittent or continuous) and light (also both ways) depending on VSC/TRAC/DAC/HAC mode of operation and whether or not the Torsen is locked. Too much to list, but that's partly why the US owner's manual is 365 pages! Find some snow (like that's hard where you are!), and a big empty parking lot to work the VSC/TRAC. A steep hill of any sort will do for the other systems.

Here's the deal. If you start to skid you'll see the warning light and hear a grinding like sound. That's the VSC working (don't ask me exactly what it's doing. Just it's doing something). Now usually when you begin to skid you'll take your foot off the gas. If you want to hear that damn alarm then you need to make yourself SKID! But make sure you won't hit anything. In a parking lot try a fish hook but once you feel the end slide out keep giving it a little gas. That or when you turn a corner give it a lot of gas. But again, look out for cars, trees, light pols, dogs walking their owners, etc.
I hate that damn alert.

It could be too that they may have discontinued the beeping so as not to scare the passengers.
But yes, on the 2001 and 2002's, if the skid is minor the symbol will only blink. If it's a decent skid then it will beep as well.
